Uber: Designing Benefits Communication for a Fast-Moving Workforce

Project Overview

As Uber expanded its global operations, the HR team partnered with WTW to improve the clarity and visual impact of its internal benefits communications. I led the creative design of print and digital materials that helped employees understand their options and take confident action during open enrollment.

The Challenge

Uber’s fast-paced culture and diverse workforce demanded communications that were not only clear and informative but also visually aligned with the company’s sleek, tech-forward brand. The materials needed to stand out in digital and physical formats, support rapid distribution, and simplify complex benefits offerings across regions.

The Strategy

We focused on designing a system that balanced clarity, energy, and brand consistency. My approach included developing a modular visual framework with bold typography, simplified icons, and clean layouts—drawing on Uber’s own visual identity while optimizing for readability and employee action.

Creative Execution

I developed a full suite of internal communication assets, including:

  • Print Collateral – Enrollment guides, mailers, and plan comparison tools

  • Digital Materials – Email graphics, mobile-optimized visuals, and internal HR portal banners

  • Iconography – Custom icons for plan types, key actions, and deadlines

  • Content Flow Design – Structured layouts to support both skimming and deep reading

  • Brand Integration – Aligned with Uber’s global design system while ensuring accessibility and inclusivity

Results & Impact

The updated materials improved employee engagement during the open enrollment window and streamlined the benefits selection process. The communications also served as a reference point for other HR initiatives, setting a new internal standard for clarity and design.

“The final designs were smart, clean, and incredibly helpful—exactly what we needed to match our culture and pace.”
